Couples therapy with Dr David Mosely

Dr. David Mosely is a licensed psychologist and co-founder of Depth Psychological Services. He works with couples across a broad range of relationship concerns, from communication difficulties and emotional distance to escalating conflict and longstanding problems that have not improved. Couples do not need a diagnosis, a crisis, or previous therapy to seek his help. He welcomes LGBTQ+ couples.

Relationship concerns he addresses

Engaging a partner who is hesitant about therapy

Dr. Mosely has a particular strength in working with reluctant partners and men who are uncertain about therapy. He may be a useful fit when a wife worries that her husband will not attend or engage and believes a male psychologist would help him feel more comfortable starting. This also applies to other couples where one partner is hesitant. His role is to help both partners feel heard and examine their contributions to the relationship.

A practical start with room for deeper work

Dr. Mosely works collaboratively and directly. Sessions can begin with concrete problems, shared goals, and changes to try between appointments. Emotional experiences and longstanding patterns are explored as the work develops. He integrates psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, acceptance-based, interpersonal, and mindfulness approaches. Progress is reviewed against the couple’s goals and experience outside sessions.

Additional strength with complex or persistent difficulties

Dr. Mosely’s background includes individual psychotherapy and psychological assessment with adolescents and adults experiencing complex emotional and behavioral concerns. He is comfortable addressing difficult relationship dynamics alongside individual concerns such as anger, substance use, and emotional or behavioral symptoms. He also works with people who have attended therapy but have not experienced the changes they hoped for. This experience adds to his broader couples work.

Therapeutic assessment with Dr Amy Siegel

Dr. Amy Siegel is a licensed psychologist and co-founder of Depth Psychological Services. Her evaluations use a collaborative therapeutic assessment approach to explore questions about symptoms, personality, relationships, and persistent patterns. She has specialized training in personality assessment and helps clients connect assessment findings with their own experiences and questions.

The practice considers Dr. Siegel’s therapeutic assessment particularly relevant in two situations: when someone is hesitant to engage in therapy or consider recurring patterns, and when someone has participated in treatment but still feels stuck. Assessment provides another way to explore what is happening and clarify treatment direction. Questions and findings are discussed collaboratively; the purpose is understanding and useful next steps.

Dr. Mosely provides couples therapy; Dr. Siegel provides the therapeutic assessment described here. An initial consultation can help determine whether couples therapy, assessment, or both would be appropriate. Assessment is not a routine requirement for couples therapy.
