Why I do this work
Many people I meet have already worked hard to understand themselves. They may have tried therapy before, learned the language for what is happening, and still find themselves in the same painful patterns. Some have felt misunderstood or even worse after treatment. I want to make room for that history instead of asking them to start over as if it never happened.
My work begins with careful attention to the person and to the context around the problem. I am interested in how someone learned to cope, what that response once protected, and why it may now be getting in the way. Insight matters, but it should also help change how life is lived.
My clinical work
I am a licensed psychologist and co-founder of Depth Psychological Services. I work with adolescents and adults, including people facing recurring relationship difficulties, emotional intensity, substance use, and other complex clinical concerns. Much of my experience has involved working with men and with people whose difficulties have not responded to straightforward treatment.
I use an integrative approach with a strong foundation in psychodynamic therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also draw on other evidence-based methods when they fit the person and the problem. You can read more about how I work.
Working with people under pressure
My work has included executives whose choices affect people beyond themselves. Pressure can make familiar defenses more rigid, and professional success can conceal private distress. The same attention to history, relationships, values, and present choices is useful here.
Professional background
I earned an MA in Clinical Psychology in 2019 and a PsyD in 2022 at the University of Indianapolis. My training included an APA-accredited predoctoral internship at Wasatch Behavioral Health in 2021–2022. I completed a postdoctoral residency in 2023 and co-founded Depth Psychological Services in Charlotte.
Writing and speaking
I am developing The Ways We Carry On, a visual book about what people learn through hardship and how lessons move across generations. The first chapter begins in Cesuna, a mountain town in northern Italy with ties to my wife’s family. The book will combine interviews and photography with local history and psychological research.
I am also developing talks from that work, beginning with executive audiences while keeping the wider human story at the center. Explore the book or learn about the speaking project.
